Was very fortunate to attend the 918 day at Silverstone yesterday. 5 passenger laps. The car felt like a Boxster S only with 500 more bhp and more planted. Pleased to see the finished car stays true to from. Very clever tech on the batt recharge. Although the rpm was restricted to 5800, it revs to 9k. it felt faster than a 12C, and much more planted.

I was there as well. The finished article looked very good. A bit underwhelmed by the sound. Truly stunning acceleration in e-mode and steering like on rails. Probably the quickest I have ever gone round a track.

Did you get an invite from Centurion? I've heard that customers for luxury car dealer networks had invites for Thurs morning and Carrera GT owners Thursday afternoon. They're certainly spreading the net for potential buyers!

The sound in e mode, or rather the lack off will take some getting used, In petrol mode the engine was the closest thing sound wise to an F1 engine I have experienced, Just like JBs on start up. very very impressive car, even more than P1, tech wise.

If test drive goes ok, will be placing order soon..

I actually felt a bit nauseous going round the track and i don't know whether it was due to this surreal acceleration or 4 wheel steer cornering which was an entirely new sensation. A test drive will reveal it further.

Because its cant be seen as being quicker then the 911 around the track paperbag

I heard rumours there is an option to remove the battery unit and reduce weight.

Did they mention this?

Not sure on the RPM, it was a pre production model, I know what you mean about the feeling, it is faster then a 12C in the bends. So much grip. From what is within my direct knowledge in addition to what was said yesterday, this car is going be closer to 900 BHP and ?kg lighter,

I just wish they'd finally launch the thing. I feel so familiar with the look of the car it is like it has been around for years, but just haven't read a drive review.

thanks for the pic. So they used again the same prototypes in Silverstone. I thought we would see something more close to the final product.

We did see the finished car as a static display, It looks very true to the original, only the side exhausts are gone.
