I'm currently looking for a battery maintainer for my father-in-laws Boxster which sits in the garage for months at a time while he's at work in Dubai.

I've come up with the CTEK MXS 3.6 which is about £45 on Amazon. As far as I can tell these are the models Prosche sell as their own branded models.

Would this be ideal for what I require or should i be looking at the MXS 5.0 and what I'm mainly here to find out is, does the cigarette lighter on a recent Boxster (2011 iirc) remain live while the ignition is off? Having the cigarette adaptor would make life that little bit easier.

Many thanks.

The CTEK 3.6 will be fine - I use one myself. The power socket stays live on the Gen 1 but not sure about the Gen 2.
