Weird thing just happened

I had just got home after a 3 hour journey. I left the car running while I came indoors for a few seconds to get the garage key. When i returned to the car it had locked itself! With the engine running and the key (and fob) still in the ignition!
I thought that I was going to have to smash a window, but the driver's doors wasn't fully closed and I was able to lever the top of the door open enough with a crowbar to be able to get a long thin bamboo through the gap that I had created. I could then press the unlock button in front of the gear lever.
What could have happened?
Thanks

Mine did this also. It is your courtesy light door switch at fault. You must have locked the car doors when you were in it using the button on the centre console. When you opened the door to get out the door switch should cause the central locking to unlock. However, if the switch is sticking the central locking module just thinks the doors should be locked as soon as you close the door it locks it.
Just change the door switch. It's very cheap. Just unscrews from the door post. Don't lose the wire into the door post.
Hope it makes sense.

Interesting, same car & MY, when I first got mine I parked up once warmed to let the engine idle before checking the oil and it too re-locked itself when I got out - I had hit the CL (fortunately the sunroof was open so I could lean in!). Not sure if it's still doing it as I daren't use the CL!Just change the door switch. It's very cheap. Just unscrews from the door post. Don't lose the wire into the door post.
