It was indeed from Dick Lovett in Swindon.
The car was previously owned by an acquaintance of mine, so I knew the history from nearly new.
Took her out for a decent run last night.
so much punch, in any gear at any speed seemingly, you put your foot on the throttle stop to be met by a tidal wave of torque.
If you happen to be in gears 1-3 when you do this, better hang on to the wheel hard (and probably advisable to pray to whomever you worship at this point if you happen to be going round a corner at the time) 70 - jail happens VERY quickly, i have no idea how long, i was too busy sweatily keeping an eye out for any impending traffic miles ahead.
at speed the car is quite light and twitchy at the front, which a suspension geometry check might help cure. handling seems fine, although not really had too much chance to fling it down country lanes / track yet.
the ride is very harsh, more so than the GT3RS I borrowed from a friend last weekend.
It's a very impressive car - remains to be seen if it is the axe wiedling psychopath it's reputation suggests (bit like it's new owner
).

Dean,
I thought mine was quite light at the front when I first starting driving it. I had the geometry checked and it was fine. So I think it's a rear engine characteristic rather than problem. I was also getting a kinda bouncy feeling at the rear end when pushing hard in fast corners. I have got used to these already but would be interested in anyone else's thoughts.
Still best get yours checked though.

Toppstuff: yes it has the ceramics - they appear to be in perfect nick at the moment, will have to see if that remains the case with a bit of track use. If they should disintegrate, I will replace with Steels.
Steve: I agree, on my old 996 the geomoetry was out when i got it so no harm in checking i guess, another remedy might be concrete under the bonnet
