The new Cayman is a seriously handsome piece of kit, especially in side profile.

These threads make me wish I waited 6 months!! Just out of interest. Anyone park exchange their old Cayman against the new car? If so, did they offer a good exchange?

I have pre traded /handed in my 2.9 cayman in exchange for a new 981s that has a expected delivery end of June,
I shopped around and was offered a very good trade deal but I expected a good price as my trade in Cayman was a 2012 with 1500 dry miles totaly unmarked.
Someone will get a good used car.

Picked up an almost unmarked 2006 Cayman S yesterday and drove 160 miles home, love it. Also have a TVR Tuscan which I don't think I will ever sell. Both great cars but very different.

Really? I had a 987 gen 2, and my 981 looks loads better....each to their own, I suppose...

Not one person who has seen my car in the flesh has said they preferred the previous shape.

I suspect a blind man would be pleased to see either......

The interior of the new car is loads better mind.

The less acute angle of the windscreen which has allowed for a much sleeker looking roof is the biggest plus for me, the rear also looks prettier on the latest car, I think its the best looking car Porsche currently make, just my opinion obviously.

I admit it looks very nice in white as the light colour accentuates the creased panels....

Totally agree - the new car is a real jump up from the slightly effeminate looking earlier car IMHO. Inside big step up now too.

I actually think the 981 Boxster is now a better looking car than a 991 cab, and 981 Cayman is better looking than a base 991.

The 981 Cayman looks far better in the flesh than in the photos (and it looks damn good in the photos).

While the 987 still retains alot of charm and character the new car looks razor sharp.

Agreed - I've always found the rear, particular from an angle like that, of the 987c, to be a bit awkward - it's the long, relatively flat, tailgate I think.

Overall though the 981 didn't blow me away as much as I'd anticipated (from a purely aesthetic point of view - I've not driven the new Cayman).
