Hello Porsche lovers!

I would like some help in choosing the best colour for my wheel refurb.

I know I should just go with the colour I like best but its hard to tell when there are few pictures around to compare.

I have a early 996 Turbo which I love.

The wheels are starting to bubble and blister so I am going to get them sorted by Lepsons which is just down the road from me

The car is 13 years old so I imagine the wheels have been done already a few times in the cars life, or at least once.

I quite like the colour which may or not be the original. Yes it's definatly Silver but original? I don't know.

My Partner had a GT silver boxster and I have seen that the S model turbo 996 has this colour wheels.

If anyone has any pictures of their Porsches it would be nice to see some.

Been done a thousand times before I bet!

Here's mine as it is

Cheers

Dan

leave as std IMHO - if a bought a turbo S my first refurb would remove the GT silver and put back to alloy

silver just makes them look dirty and loses the contrast IMHO

Recently had my turbo wheels done in GT silver (basalt black car), and would look good on yours too. No piccies to hand at the moment.

Looks very nice in black.

The previous owner had black wheels on this which looked ok but think they look better in a grey or silver.

My car is Seal Grey and was ordered new with Seal Grey wheels, unfortunately I haven't got any pics for you as by the time I acquired the car it looked exactly like your one! I can only assume that the original colour scheme didn't look good. I fancy the idea of black with silver edge, seen a few pics recently & it looks good.

you could do as that black turbo is and go body colour with poilshed lip.looks nice.

i need to refurb my c4s rims(same as the turbo) and wanted to do something different but the car being silver, its hard to pick something different that works!

I had a similar discussion with Chris (Exel Wheels) a while back- considering a colour change for the alloys on my arctic silver 996. I thought about seal grey (wanted something darker to contrast, but not black). He suggested GT Silver- this looks a lot darker/greyer on an alloy wheel (as opposed to the bodyshell) than you would think- he demonstrated this with some freshly refurbed Carrera Sports, which I would have said had seal grey centres.

Don't know how this would work with Seal grey though!

It's amazing what a sliver of silver can do to an otherwise completely black wheel. I think this looks infinitely better than the all-black look so favoured by the bruvvaz out there; it never looks good.

Thanks for the positive comments fellas, must admit I was quite chuffed with the finished result. They started as a pretty scruffy set I picked up to see what could be done, but the original silver set are still in the garage and have never been back on.

All done by Steve Edwards in Halifax...fantastic attention to detail...

Another gratuitous pic...

@Op, At the end of the day it's down to personal taste, maybe worth playing around with photoshop to get a few ideas.

I've had mine in grey and now black. Black is better on seal grey, but silver is still nice too

Those wheels look very, VERY nice on that car - I love the colour co-ordinated look on most cars, and this one is no exception!
