996 door check straps clicking

The door check straps on both my doors have suddenly started clicking.

I have tried to clean up and fresh oil/grease the hinges and strap itself but its not made any difference.

I have searched and found lots of info about 993s but not the 996.

Anyone had anything similar, any tips, advice appreciated.

Check the bolts that anchor the mounting plate to the bodywork are tight.

Managed to round the bolts tightening them up, they seem quite soft.

Had to get the out with dremel and fitted new ones.

clicking Noise has now gone.

The drivers door check strap is creaking again, does anyone know how to remove them for closer inspection? The noise is coming from the end within the door.

I have ordered a new check strap. It's not clear from the parts catalogue if is removed with the door card off too. any body know?
