I've been watching lots of clips of 996 Turbos and 996 GT2s lately. What's really noticeable about their respective soundtracks is how much more bass there seems to be in the noise the GT2 makes. You still get all the lovely turbo whoosh but it sounds like there's a really nice undercurrent of bass as well.

Is this because of different induction and/or exhaust systems? If so, what are the differences between the two?

This is the kind of thing I'm talking about... Just listen to this GT2.

Do they all sound this good and, more importantly, can a Turbo be made to sound the same?

Agreed, I found a Fabspeed was too much, swapped it for a TUBI. On the GT2 the noise is now far more attractive.

The official UK distributor for Tubi (Eurospares) only lists exhausts for Ferrari, Lamborghini and Maserati.

Where can you get them in the UK?

Came across a slightly used example so didn't get it new. For a 2002 GT2 it didn't have to be totally unused.

Import from Europe, or have a chat with the importers and see if they can get you one in smile

I have no idea about whether there is a measurable power/torque difference, but it is lighter than the standard exhaust, and makes a much better noise than the standard very quiet system.

Threadlift! smile

I find the 9ff exhaust on my GT2 a tad too quiet, what are the options? Is the Techart any good? Came across a used 60mm sport version for sale.

Or what else? Not interested in spending on a new system.

Cheers

From what i've been told the GT2 shares the same exhaust system as the X50/S Turbo variants (as they also share the same turbochargers etc..). Not convinced its any lighter just slightly more free-flowing.

Just remove the cats and you'll get the sound you want. Relatively cost effective too. If money no object I'd be talking to Stef at Europipe for a 100 CEL loud system for your car.

9e do a switchable system for 996 turbo which obviously works just as well on a tweaked "996turbo x50" (just joking, but the engine is pretty much the same )

I like it lick
