Where have all the 997s gone?

Typical. Having finally made the decision to purchase, all the sub £25k 997 S Manuals seem to have vanished.

Anyone seen a good one for sale in the South of England?

I know of a really good Manual 997C2S down here in Cornwall, all the right work done, Silver/ deep blue. 640000 miles. £23k.

Mines for sale £23,900 in the ph classifieds if you do a search by price. I'm based just south of reading so not far from you. It's not put a foot wrong in the four years I've had it. I've finally bought a gt3 and that is the only reason I'm selling.

thanks Paul. Yours looks nice but I'm holding out for a black and/or Porsche indy supplied car. No offence, but this is my first dip into Porsche ownership and I'm not brave enough for a private purchase.

Why does everyone want Black or grey cars? Metallic dull, or metallic dark dull. IMO the blue cars have more appeal, especially S cars with red calipers.
And of course speed yellow is king, if you can find one...

May need a private plate though as this one nearly says kn*b. On a yellow 911 this is not ideal.

The mileage on these 2005/6 cars is a joke!!!

27000 miles, 34000 miles, 41000 miles... etc etc etc

Its just total lies.

As they get older the mileages drop. Nonsense.

Given they're apparently all-too-easy to clock (including the secondary mileage and recorded hours in the ECU) this could be true. As an aside, I'm told that it's equally easy to zero out the over-rev counters too - for anyone with a chip read/write tool and appropriate knowledge as to how these chips operate.

It shouldn't be too hard to find a good 997, they made a bazillion of them.

I've had mine for years now, and every time I toy with trading it in get told it's only worth 50p. On that basis I've still got it, as nothing else comes close to replacing it for the trade-in value. Depreciation is a fact of life, but I guess we could be seeing the effect of the cars being well built and capable, but "worth" very little, leading to existing owners simply holding onto them. Having lost a fortune in depreciation, I personally don't really fancy trading up to the 991 yet.

Keep looking though, they're not rare cars.
