On an 03 996.

Say I do all the stuff I can do myself, spark plugs, brake fluid and transmission oil, but still use a specialist for the yearly service - Even major if its due (minus the above DIY items of course), would most buyers find it a -ve?

Id rather save money I can, and spend that money saved on suspension fixes or anything else.

What do you think? Is it off putting assuming receipts for sundries are kept and dated?

The only thing you not doing is an Oil change.

Take it to OPC and give them Mobile 1 and an hours labour. 130 plus the vat....

I agree with your thinking. Do the stuff that you're comfortable dealing with and leave the rest to a specialist. That specialist can be an OPC if you wish, but you're not really going to lose anything by going to a reputable independent.

On an 03 996, if you keep the receipts and records etc, it will be fine.

yeah it hasn't been to OPC for years - Not going to start now, especially after reading the £600 for front pads thread. smile

Reckon I could save 200 with that lot, great amount for finding something else to fix.

I'm just wondering from buyers experiences whether anyone really cares beyond 10 years as long as it has a reasonable check over by a good specialist.

I am a fairly new 911 owner, but I have always done most of my own repairs on all my cars since about 1965.

I always thought that basic jobs on a Porsche would be really hard when you think what dealerships charge, but most of the service items such as oil, filters and brakes are very easy. I would not be put off by anyone telling me that they had done their own maintenance, providing I could see receipts and they presented me with some sort of schedule/history of what had happened over the years. However, it would be useful if there were some record of transmission oil changes and plugs which had been done by a specialist.
