964 - New Wheels

Looking to get a new set of wheels for the 964.
Like the 16" cups that i have just now but i'm not keen on the spacers and the widths, looking for a bit more grip/road holding. I'll keep the 16's for track days.
Have to be 17", don't want any bigger.
So do i go for a set of cup 1's in silver?
Or something else completely?
Open to any options and styles pretty much. Pics of them on a 964 would be grand. If you have a set to sell, even better.

Also like D90's and a polished finish on a dark colour car can look pretty cool. Ride on 16's is also more comfortable

Make sure you know the difference between originals & replicas. Reps look similar but are not worth as much...
Originals will have the width & offset showing right next to the valve. Reps have it stamped on the inside of the wheel. Also watch out for Cup I reps that came off earlier 911's or 944's as the offsets on those wheels will not work on a 964.
BTW - there is nothing much wrong with the reps. I have a set on my car and they are AOK.

would agree, just a case of finding a set with correct off set, have been looking for 18 months with no luck, FVD seem to be selling Porsche approved replica's which look to be my best optionI have Cup1's on the 928, will they be a different offset?
That's strange, looking on FVD's site it gives the same spec for 2 Cup 1's.

OP specified 17's that's why I left of the BBS lm's and speedlines.
Cup 2 is a lighter wheel than a cup 1 but isn't 'phat' enough for the 964 shape IMHO.
IIRC 928 cup1 is the same as a 968 size 7.5x17et65...
964/993 fronts are 7x17et55
Real ones have the width and et stamped around the tyre valve so it should say 7 and 55 for a correct 964 cup 1/2

The RUF Yellowbird wheels don't fit the 964 due to it's negative scrub radius front suspension which was designed to work with ABS.
RUF did however do wheels to fit the 964, personally I think they're one of the few aftermarket wheels that does suit the 964, but quite rare, though they do appear for sale occasionally.
It's a little known fact that the original Cup wheels designed for the Cup cars in their first couple of seasons are still available from Porsche.
The Yanks, bless'em, advertise them for ridiculous money, stating they're rare and sought after. Really ? the last time I checked (when I bought a set) they had something like 600 rears in stock and even more fronts. They're slightly wider than the stock Cup 1's both front and rear, the fronts are 8" the rears 9.5". The fronts fill the arches perfectly without spacers, the rear need a minimum 21mm spacer to clear the oil pipes (just as the Cup cars ran) In reality the rears will run a 28mm spacer and then fill the arches out nicely.
Approx £5-600 a pop, and worth every penny.

But it is also worth having a look at your suspension especially the rear arms. From memory the 964 has a big rubber bush in the rear trailing arm sort of designed to give you a bit of rear wheel steer. 964 RS's do not have these. Different trailing arms and camber plates.
