Becker Grand Prix ?

Firstly, apologies as I don't have a Porsche, maybe someday ...

Essentially, I bought another 172 the other day to mess about with and it came with a Becker Grand Prix headunit. Now I have no use for it, but ive been led to believe that they are quite hard to find and attractive to Porsche owners for some reason?

As such, any idea what it might be worth on the open market? Will help buy some R888's if I can get rid of it. Its the Bluetooth one if that makes it any better

Becker rebadge these and sell them as Porsche units. They were fitted to most Porsche models afaik.

I have one in my garage waiting for the day i find my perfect 944.

There is one for sale on ebay at the moment for £400, which i think is a bit too pricey.
£250 seems more reasonable as i have had offers in this area for the unit in my garage.

Also look gread in Bm's. The photo shows it in a Z3. I have one in my M Coupe and it looks OEM with the red dosplay (7992 i think)

Maybe also worth punting on the bimmer forums.

I beleive the reason why they are rare now is the fact that Becker were unable to sell in UK after some ruling regarding the bluetooth hardware/software. I might be wrong on that though.

I think they were about £300 new but then one had to buy the ipod connector cable (maybe £60-80 from memory) and maybe the mic for phone. Mic might have came with it though.

The sought after Becker models for Porsche have the amber illumination to match the OEM units, I believe most of the models except the cascade aren't switchable in terms of illumination colour, as the red and blue illumination models have a slightly different suffix on the part numbers.

Great units though.

The Amber Grand Prix (7990) go for very strong money because they were the last Becker made that had all the functionality and suited the 911 interior. The red display, as has been said, are quite easy to source and not in great demand by Porsche owners.

Just thought id bump this up again as ive bought a Cooper S recently and it had a Becker Cascade 7944 in it. Have bought a new GPS aerial & microphone from Germany for it (they were slightly damaged when removed from the car), but am now looking to sell it on, again, to pay for more exciting things, like track days
