996 Rust Spot on Sill round the metal kick plate
Discussion
I have read a few posts on here regarding this, it seems a relatively common issue.
Has anyone actually successfully claimed this against the Porsche anti corrosion warranty? I am just debating whether to approach my OPC or just to bite the bullet and get it done myself.
Any feedback gratefully received.

I also have the same issue, but have not done anything about it. Mine is a 2004 car so still within the 10 year body warranty. Not sure if you have an early or late model and are in the same situation.
From what I gather, the "get-out" for Porsche is that unless the paint/body inspection has been done as per the schedule, it will not honour it. I havent looked at my history in detail, but given that the last 3-4 years have been specialists rather than OPC I doubt it would comply with this rule. However, it could all be b
ks.
If you have any luck or progress, do let me know!! If I pull my finger out and make any progress I will update too.

Do a forum search (use Google and add the word Pistonheads is the PH search is down) and you find the thread detailing the following:
One guy was told by Porsche that the corrosion there was due to an outside influence....that influence being the kickplates that they fitted!! Having had no joy through the OPC or Porsche he went as far as pursuing a county court Small Claim - the day before the hearing Porsche said they'd sort it all out for him, and he was then looked after very well by the OPC bodyshop (i.e. he asked about the extra cost of dealing with a bumper scuff whilst it was in and they just said "no problem, we'll do it, no charge").
However, he may have had the car from new and ordered it with the SS kickplates - any other scenario weakens the case slightly, plus it was a while ago so at the time the car wouldn't have been as old as most/all will be now. If it was settled as a court judgement there would have been a precedent to rely on, which probably explains why they settled out of court at the last minute...

The car must have an immaculate paint/body inspection schedule for them to honour it. Known fault and I do think Porsche could do more for their customers here.
I decided to leave mine as they were, then ultimately sold the car on. The car is now with a dealer that's had the sills repaired at a cost of I think £4-£500.
Thanks for all the replies.
I have had the car from new (2004 GT3) and it has all the Porsche stamps and bodywork checks with the supplying dealer. I guess its worth asking the question, not sure I can be bothered to pursue it through a small claims court though. I read somewhere there is a grommit or something that fixes the problem?

I took one of mine into OPC Reading with exactly the same issue. Was told that the corrosion warranty did not cover trim damage ( the corrosion being caused by the plastic turbo kick plate pooling water)
They did however quote £150+vat to do the repair which I felt wasn't a bad price.
In fact the quote of £2100 incl to do the repair and flat back to primer and respray the front wings,pu,bonnet, rear spoiler and pu is a cracking deal in my books bearing in mind most body shops would just overpaint the panels.

The small claims process is the easiest bit. Moneyclaim online, costs about £30 (added to your claim), they have x days to respond & acknowledge, which they'll do on day x-1, a court date will eventually be set, then they'll settle the day before (or they could choose to turn up but they'll lose and the cost to them of turning up is greater than just paying to have the job done). All you have to do is wait, in the scheme of having owned the car for 9 years already it won't be long really. Don't forget, this is all IF you have no joy asking them about claiming on the warranty and being refused.I have had the car from new (2004 GT3) and it has all the Porsche stamps and bodywork checks with the supplying dealer.
