Why not just look in the manual then buy the bulbs you need online from somewhere like powerbulbs or autobulbs?

Get down to Halfrauds, they sell severall kits that cover a multitude of cars. They may not have every bulb for your car but have the majority, and what it doesn't have can be bought seperately.

Alternatively, check out some web based suppliers such as 'autobulbs' and see if you can make a kit up. Far cheaper than OPC I would guess.

I've got a bulb kit for a 1995 Ford Escort I always take that when I go to France regardless of the car I'm in seems to work great with the local law enforcement but not so great if you need to replace a bulb lol!

Is it compulsory for any of the countries to which you're travelling? Can you even get spare bulbs for your car?

As he said, www.autobulbsdirect.co.uk is a good place to go.

Tell the online finder your car and it will list all the bulbs you need.

I don't think it is.

The distinction is that if you get pulled with a defective bulb then you get fined if you can't fix it there and then.

Carrying a spare bulb kit for a random vehicle is pointless.

I may be talking bks but I'm sure that's been pointed out on here before.

hehe

According to the blurb on Halfords site, which may or may not be up to date, says Spain and France requires them, other countries recommended. But at the same time doesn't list every European country.

But for the sake of £20 or so, I'd have them with me regardless.

I'm not sure I'd go to Halfords for legal advice!

These people seem to endorse what I was thinking. If I get the chance I'll try and look up the actual rules!

Ask Eddie Stobart. He's an excellent lawyer.

Legal advice on the Innernet is worse than none at all, but anyway. The Euro country I am in at the moment says nothing about spare bulbs and I have never heard anything about this matter in the nearest Euro country either, I got the set specifically for France.

I assembled my bulb set off Ebay.

Nothing extraordinary about Porsche bulbs as far as I can tell. Just get the correct types off the manual, plonk them in Ebay search, and buy them.

No "wtf is this for" bulb-kit nonsense.

I'm sure you are spot on.
There's no shortage of merchants trying to scare you into buying everything under the sun for a foreign trip including the 'compulsory' breathalyser for France despite the fact that it has (effectively) been scrapped ie postponed indefinately.

That is exactly what I do!! I bought a cheap generic set from Halfords and use it for whichever car I take. Never been asked and if I was I am sure they would never know.

because it's not a legal requirement to have them.

I can do this when he successfully bids for my criminal legal aid contract. Good plan smile
