Coming home from waitrose last night going north on the A140 in Suffolk I was having a bit of a race with a guy in a 52 plate diesel c class Mercedes. I believe it was a c220 cdi. Anyways overtaking a few cars this thing was a f*cling rocket!! I was in my 981s and it was pulling away from me :/ I was in sports plus had my foot firmly hurried deep and this this just kept going. I had to get to very high speeds before I could catch up, and I'm convinced he was just lifting off!! Basically at 132 mph I was just starting to get back. I'm slightly annoyed and mega confused. This thing can't have been standard no way. It was a sodding estate as well which just further rubbed salt in the wound.

The 220 will put out around 200bhp when re-mapped so probably not that one...Ha shall we say eye airfield 
anyways it wasn't a c63 I've actually driven a few and I know my cars it has a twin exhaust on the left was a silver estate Mercedes diesel. The guy must have dropped maybe a bigger lump in there who knows but my partner was even shocked she couldn't believe what she was seeing. It was a pretty sh*tty car and it was pulling away I I'm still a bit in shock to be honest.

I was in a boxster S down on Dartmoor recently and had a E350 CDI cellotaped to my chuff for a few miles. Couldn't shake him to save my life in a straight line.The only thing I can think of was we had a few bags of shopping in the car and had just filled up so the car was full to the brim with fuel. Also the A140 is a very good road on parts good visability broad open road so you can have fun in parts. I think I need a turbo now lol I can't have bloody estate mercs diesel mercs at that beating me lol I pay a lot of money for my "sports" car
I've found you need a surprisingly large differential in power to weight before significant gaps can be made once rolling.
Then there are other factors to consider. The main one being how mental the person who you are following (or are being followed by) is. I've been followed by people when I'm driving quickly but always driving to vision and well within myself but the person behind in a "normal" car is staying in touch, but only through relying on me not f
king up and them cutting blind corners to stay in control.
It doesn't prove anything, really. I wouldn't let it worry you.

I always back off when I see Mr TDi man showing me how fast he can go round blind corners. That way I have plenty of time to stop if I find him parked in the back of tractor or something similar that he couldn't see just around the corner.

So true.Getting the power down a second earlier, carrying another 5-10mph through a bend, using the full performance of the brakes rather than 65% ..... all of these things require literally hundreds and hundreds of BHP to neutralise the advantage made.
