Lobsters on the 996

I had been looking for a different set of wheels for my 996 since i bought it in January. I didn't want the usual turbo twists or GT3 style wheels as i see a few around here with them on. I wasn't looking for 19's to be honest but these came up cheap needing a refurb.

Dropped them at a local Powder coaters and £35 a wheel later there were done.

Fitted them today and happy with them.

They are too big. The 996 shape never came with 19s and I don't think they look quite right.

I think they look good... even better if you lowered the ride height a bit.

I think they look ok but preferred the originals on that car tbh.

Maybe it's because I am now looking at 996's as future classics and the standard look appeals to me now after 15 odd years of looking at them.

Thing is mate, it still looks good and its your car so as long as you like it WGAF what an old grey beard like me thinks.

Its sitting a little lower now. that pic was right after the wheels were put on. The suspension has settled down further now.

I think if you're new to porsche, they look fine, if you've been around porsche for years, they look wrong.

Regardless of the generational difference, dark wheels on a dark car don't work for me I'm afraid. Prefer a contrast.

Drop the car an inch and have your calipers re-furbed and painted red and it'll look great

They're too big IMO. Like the design but it just makes the car sit funny. Almost has that 928 look from side on now.

Car looks nice and 'clean' with its proper wheels. Looks a bit like a jeep now but each to their own!!!!

Those 996 wheels have dated badly so I can see why you want to change them....I am not a fan of putting wheels from later era cars on any car though. Just never seems to work for me.

Two thumbs down from me - one for the lobsters, one for painting them black. I really don't like the current trend for black wheels.

I agree.

Plus, the colour of the powercoat is a completely different shade of black than the car.
