Clay, Polish, Wax And A Little Bit Of Paint

Here's a few pictures of Cayman S after a marathon cleaning session...I had some paint mixed up to colour code the number plate plinth and decided to paint the metal bar between the seats the body colour too.

Also at the start of the year I had the wheels powder coated chrome I was looking for a finish like polished alloy and they turned out spot on, while the wheels were off I gave the hub's a coat of red to match the calipers. The centre caps posed a bit of a problem I couldn't find chrome paint anywhere I ended up taking them to a local sign makers and they put on some chrome plastic film they use for lettering a simple solution which ended up looking great.

Looks very nice. How comes it says Porsche Cayman S on the back? Mine and all the others I have seen just say Cayman S, is it a mondification?

Porsche gave the gen 2 cars really comical wheel arch gaps.

It's a 987S Gen 2 but with P O R S C H E added - like the later 981/991 cars.

I'm not a fan of the chrome wheels or the painted hubs, other than that it's a beautiful car.

Personally I think the additional badging on 981 / 991 is to fussy. I'd go for the delete option.

As was mentioned the badges are from the latest spec of cars, the P O R S C H E lettering is from the 991 and the Cayman S is from the 981.

I always hated the cheap looking silver Cayman S badge fitted to the 987 so when I saw the new cars had chrome badges I ordered up a set...looks much better now.

Clean car... but I'd lose the P O R S C H E badging and the red hub paint. I do like a red Cayman though!

I half agree. I don't mind the Porsche badging, but I think the hubs would be better in silver.

Thanks...

Nothing special...Simoniz Wash & Wax, Autoglym Super Resin Polish and Collinite waxes 845 for the wheels, 476S and 915 for the paintwork.

There was some paint left over from painting the numberplate plinth and I thought some red right in the middle would brighten up the inside a bit.

I like chrome badges on red cars something about them just looks right.

As for the red hubs...I had thought about about painting then silver I did one side first to see what it looked like comparing it to the unpainted grey / silver on the other but to me it was a no brainer red it had to be.

No problem, any excuse for another picture...



I painted everything apart from the wheels...the Guards Red paint came from a local auto paint supplier who put it into rattle cans and the red for the hubs came from B&Q.
