Mark Webber is moving from F1 to the Porsche LMP1 programme. Great news for Porsche, less so for Audi and Toyota...

According to the BBC report, back in 1998 he said he'd never return to Le Mans because it's so dangerous.

Missed winning the GT championship in 1998 by 8 seconds, so I guess he may just have it in him.

There is no doubting that Webber is a great driver; but personally I suspect he is always going to be one of those almost but not quite, hell he ought to be British

Having said that, I always said that about Button and he did win a World Championship eventually despite trying his hardest to lose it.

Every driver must be compared to those he drives against. Webber is a great driver, just not as good as his team mate.

Webber is a fitness freak, bit of a straight shooter, and has the endurance/skills to drive at the very highest level. All these characteristics no doubt attractive to the likes of Porsche. Nice coup for Porsche's LMP1 return. I wonder who will be the other 2 drivers?

How many ex-F1 drivers (but not world champions) in the top 3 from LM this year? Enough to suggest that Webber going to Porsche will be a really good move for Porsche!

Mark Webber is one of the very best drivers in the world. Probably among the top 7. Anyone who actually understands anything about driving would understand that. Anyone who doesn't , talks bks anyway. Good signing for Porsche.

But obviously he's not as quick as the some of the Guys on this thread.
