Spyder numbers

I have searched but can't pinpoint the thread or pages with the spyder production numbers which were posted. Uk and worldwide.

If anyone can narrow it down or has those numbers to hand, it would be appreciated. Cheers.

For the UK there are as follows:

2010: 147
2011: 89
2012: 1

total 237.

Those UK figures come from the horse's mouth, so to speak, which I have seen but I was asked at the time to keep that source confidential - the figures are deemed to be quite commercially sensitive I think in some quarters.

That opens with a suggestion of Spyders physically built as follows:

calendar year 2009: 33
calendar year 2010: 1418
calendar year 2011: 493
calendar year 2012: 0

total: 1944

The uk numbers were roughly what I recalled. Total build lower than I remembered. Sounds good though.

Really loving the spyder still. I can't think of anything which offers the 'specialness' with rarity for the money.

Mine's having a short shift fitted on Saturday - hoping it'll make it a bit more exciting for me....

Still can't see what I'd replace it with, though.

(And the sun is allegedly making a return at the weekend. Yay)

I have 2 spyders and the one with the sport shifter is notchier but much quicker. It is more satisfying because you can row it quicker.

Interesting that the build numbers were so similar to the two previous Boxster "Spyder" iterations without being limited to such a number like they were.

Let us know how you get on Zyp. I nearly got this done but decided not to bother as I'm quite happy with the standard shift.

To be honest I also like the standard shift - I just fancied doing something to the car.
It was either going to be having a change of colour to the wheels or, short shift.

I can't see the wheels when I'm driving, (and it was going to cost twice as much) and most people rave about the SS.

I know what you mean. Mine is up to 17k miles at 3 years old.

Would you believe one of the plastic stoppers inside the metal tube that holds the back of the roof up had disappeared. OPC want £12 for a replacement!

If I were you, when you go and buy that bit of plastic, make sure you gorge on their coffee and croissants.

Hit 7000 miles on the cars 3rd birthday driving back from Le Mans 24hrs.

Also lost the plastic bits from that metal bit. Check the drainage area to the sides of the roof storage area. I located mine in there.

I've had a good root around in there and I can't see it. Might take the one out of the other side to match - will make it lighter!

A Spyder thread

I have nothing to contribute to the thread other than I have short shift and it's most excellent.

If you own a Spyder and you read a thread about them don't you just think, "We know, what others don't" and grin a little?

I did a track day in mine last week and with the PSE unplugged, was recorded at 104db.

How do you unplug and are you saying by unplugging it is louder than just using the button?

Unplugging causes PSE-goodness to not cut-out at 30-45 mph(?) .

Sounds brilliant, and is a simple 10 minute job, easily reversed.
(or you can get a remote doofa from Gert, like DS240 has)
