Running a Porsche is never that cheap, sadly. And the cheaper older ones like 924s can cost their purchase price every year

Not bad price, is that fitted?

Did the clutch completely let go?

£600 ? Bargain.
I paid £1,300 for mine, but then I got replaced just about every replace-able clutch-related item and even more.

Isn't there loads of labour in a 944 clutch because of the ammount of disassembly needed to get at it ?
Sorted in the 968 by engineering a removeable cover into the side of the bellhousing.

Yes. Most shops I know charge 12 hrs of labor.
The 928 had the bellhousing access since well before - even from the beginning of production if I'm not mistaken. It's one of these things Porsche never bothered correcting on 924/944s.

12 hrs labour on a 951 (944 Turbo), 8-9 hours on a 944S2 provided that everything comes apart easily, the worst problem usually is removing the bellhousing. Expect to pay around £400-500 labour plus £350ish for the clutch, +VAT.

Thtche Car's at Hartec.....£600+Vat for a new clutch see here www.hartech.org.uk/Docs/service_prices_sept_2004.pdf
for fixed price servicing..........

Aparently the rubber 'thingey' at the back of the cluch disinergrated & jammed the clutch/gearchange...

Hartech did mine for £800 fitted including the rubber wotsit ( which is what had actually failed) but that was a few years ago.
Would still recommend them for all things 944 shaped.
