Tracker needed, any recommendations?

A recent acquisition has prompted my insurance company to request a tracker to be fitted to one of my vehicles for he first time.
Bit odd for a 22 year old car which already has a cat 1 alarm immobiliser, limited to 1500 miles per annum, in the garage by 10.30 am, which is locked, alarmed and behind another car and electric gates?
Anyway, anyone know someone in the Essex area who is (in the following order)
a) trustworthy, and competent.
b) reasonably priced and can supply a suitable system, insurance approved.
c) recommendable by personal experience, not just a guy down the pub on a Sunday.

A good contact would be gratefully welcomed!

Can't help with a recommendation I'm afraid, but when I looked at this for my 981 Boxster, it was far more cost effective to simply change insurance companies to one that didn't require a tracker device.

I'm with Competition Car Insurance and they request a tracker at over £40K value. Was told last time to declare it at just sub that value to avoid the requirement.

Don't think it really matters what you advise them, any insurance settlement should be based on market value at the time anyway.

This. When the company I was with at the time requested this, I informed them I had had other comparable quotes that didn't require a tracker and the quickly came back to me saying that the requirement had now been waived.

Don't know how to play it. Car is such a one off, I don't want to test them for fear of them walking away. I am guessing I would have trouble insuring elsewhere.
They have supplied a number for a fitter, but you never know who you are going to end up with. So many monkeys out these ready to hack your loom about that I would have preferred a recommended fitter.

Just bought one of these for my lawn tractor. Easy to fit and works via an iPhone app. £175 but no subscription. Works very well.

An insurance approved tracker can cost lots if you inc subs over the lifetime. Cheaper to transfer - eg Henderson Taylor request cat1 and garage but no tracker for classic insurance.

The insurers are being fussy about the level of cover, and will not accept a non monitored system.
I ended up going with GAP security who they recommend. Around £180 fitted, but yearly fee of £140!
Just gave and said yes, it gets to the point you feel like your pushing st uphill?

I use SmarTrack on my 996GT3 and R8. They have fitters located all over country and I know how effective it is as everytime we tow the GT3 on trailer and forget to turn on ignition before starting I get an alert within 30 seconds. I like them for peace of mind as I'm often traveling and leave my cars in airports etc so always nice to know that I will get a call or SMS if it moves.

Glad you are sorted, but I was wondering why you thought this? There must be oodles of ins co's that would insure your car. Or am I missing a vital piece of info?

Trying to keep a low profile about the car on here, but lets just say it is highly modifyed, and the insuarnce company seem to be suffering it so far. Dont want to wind em up by publishing magzine pics or anything else for that matter!

Endorse the recommendation for mtrack. Excellent product and excellent company to work with.
In case you don't know, it's self contained so needs no fitting, you just hide it somewhere cunning yourself.
Can't do better IMO
