Ideas for nice European road trip

As per the title I am after ideas for a nice European route, I basically need to spend a weekend just outside Frankfurt, (Langen),so thought rather than taking the plane I would take the opportunity to have a nice blast in my Cayman, it will be the first time I have done a European trip so after any ideas you might have, I could take 8 to 10 days in total but would like to see a few sights on route and probably 2 nights in Frankfurt.

Any thoughts greatly appreciated.

Some friends and I just did a Euro trip. We took 2 weeks in total, but the last 5 days of that were at Le Mans. Looking at where Frankfurt is, you could start off similar to how we did.

We got the ferry over to Calais, then went to the old Reims-Gueux grand prix circuit pits. That's a nice stop off. We then headed down to Saint-die-des-vosges, and used that as a base for the night before driving some fantastic roads, with stunning scenery, in the Vosges. From there we headed in to Germany to Stuttgart to visit the Porsche Museum, before heading on to Munich.

You would probably be looking to go the other way from Stuttgart towards Frankfurt rather than following what we did, but after Munich we visited the Eagle's Nest before heading on down into Austria which is wonderful for roads and scenery. The Grossglockner High Alpine road being a particular highlight.

Definitely worth a jaunt on Route 500 up to Baden Baden

If you only have a few days, I would recommend a pilgrimage to the Ring and then a tour of Schwarzwald (Black forest). We did the following itinerary in May and it was great:

Day 1 - Meet in Nurburg. Watch VLN, have dinner at PK.
Hotel in Nurburg: Motorsporthotel.
Day 2 - TF in the morning. Drive to Baden Baden in the afternoon.
Hotel in Baden Baden: Hotel am Sophienpark
Day 3 - Baden Baden to Koblenz (Switzerland) through Schwarzwald High Alipne Road (B500). Extremely scenic.
Hotel in Koblenz (Switzerland): Waldshuter Hof
Day 4 - Koblenz (Switzerland) to Freudenstadt.
Hotel in Freudenstadt: Hotel Palmenwald Schwarzwaldhof
Day 5 - Freudenstadt to Rastatt in the morning. Rastatt to home in the afternoon.

Thanks for the replies so far, some nice ideas, great photos, I will definitely take in the Porsche museum, the route from Baden Baden looks great and I really fancy including a couple of days in Switzerland in my trip.

Any other tips would be appreciated.
