997 SC duck tail

Whilst meditatively cleaning the GTS at the weekend I wondered what it might look like with a duck tail spoiler. This got me thinking about whether the spoiler from the 997 SC would be available from Porsche as a spare part and how easy it would be to fit. I would imagine it is lighter, being without the motor and whatnot, and isn't as in your face as the full aero. However the whole thing begs some questions which I hoped the PH community might like to comment upon:

Should it be done at all? Perhaps a GTS should be a GTS and not pretend to be anything else?
Does a 911 look better without a spoiler anyway?
Am I right to assume it would fit?
Would Porsche supply, paint and fit it if it does?
Anyone care to hazard a guess as to how much it might be?

Seen a few replica duck tails on the go, so should be an easy one if you really want it.

Stuff the purists, as long as it can be put back to standard after who cares?
Magnus Walker has made a fortune modifying Porkers over the years.

The roof bubbles have been done too btw, I can't recall who did it tho.

I think the ducktail looks brilliant on the 997. The bods at Porsche obviously think it does too because it's now a factory fit option on the 991.

Spooky timing as I am looking at doing the exact same thing on my humble 7.1 c2. I had seen the evs site and it convinced me that it really did look great...am also planning to put a set of fuchs on too.

Problem is though I can't find anyone in the uk that offers the ducktail option. Anyone got any suggestions on who might be able to supply this upgrade?

OP - why not pop into a Porsche Centre and ask the parts department to show you the parts schematic and quote you the retail parts prices? I would be surprised if an SC lid/spoiler assy wouldn't fit your car.

Design 911 do a duck tail spoiler for the 997, in fact they do the full Sport Classic kit:

Giggle it looks like you own an SC. So if the worst happens and, say, your car gets shunted from behind you'd have to photograph the damaged parts and supply a chassis number to place an order? Remarkable!

Thanks all for the replies. I didn't expect it to be cheap, but I don't think I'd do it if it wasn't an original Porsche part. Also I'm not sure I want it badly enough to be faffed to be honest. I doesn't look bad as it is.

yes, i had to do that just for a replacement roof stripe that i accidentally jetwashed off. A part useless to anyone else without the bonnet and engine cover stripes. i even had to photograph the chassis number visible through front screen and this on a car the dealer knows and has serviced, 111 point checked and warranted.

My local OPC has confirmed the 'block' on SC specific parts, but tells me that the lid / spoiler assy retails at £3265.00 plus the VAT. It's all a moot point for the OP though, 'cause he can't buy one!
