Porsche 997 gen 2 Headlight adjustment for European use

Hi People

Wonder if someone can help. I'm off to the Continent and looking to flick my headlights over to LHD pattern for my 997 C2S cabriolet. I have a manual and have read how to do this...HOWEVER.....it only tell me how to do it for headlights that do not have Bi-xenons with corner control, which my car has.

My dealer has said I can book it in and they will show me how, but wondered if I can avoid that and someone on here tell me how to do this.

I've had one of the headlamps out and taken the back cover off and the control module for the corner control off as well, but for the life of me, could not see anything to flick between T and O for switch from overseas to home.

I believe that on the 991 (with cornering lights), this is an option accessible through the PCM menu. Have you checked that for the 997.2 ?

Yes checked the PCM and can't find anything...also checked the PCM manual and nothing there either.

I have the same car and did this the other week follow the instructions in the book can't remember the page number will check for you tomorrow if you need, but the lever is a small metal tab down inside the headlight it is not easy to spot at first as the T & O marking are on both sides of the reflector moulding hope that helps

Is your car equipped with the cornering lamps ?
I had the lamp out & everythinh open & could not spot anything that looked like the tab in the picture ...:-)

no its as per page 274 but it has a control module as well for the cornering lights thst once removed, looks like the pics on 276

No sorry not cornering lights on mine but to be honest the lever does not look like the picture in the book anyway! I'll have another look at mine tomorrow to refresh my memory see if I can give any further comment

My dad recently had a problem with changing his lights on a new mercedes.
Dad took to dealer, Technicians were about to switch them over and could not find the switch, they put black tape on them for his recent euro trip.
On his return, still not happy the dealership, they rang UK and Germany HQ and in the end they confirmed that the headlights had no such switch and would conform to UK and European requirements. Pity they never told the dealer network.
Maybe same with Porsche?

Had an SLK55 AMG in the past & they did have a switch, Watford Mercedes did it for me. Sounds like your Merc dealer is a bit daft :-)

This should give you everything that you need to know to remove the control unit and then switch the beam.

Check page 205 in your User Manual - you should find it there or thereabouts with instructions on how to remove the lamps themselves.
Its a simple job, just requires a little care when handling the headlamp units.

No definately not, Dad has had Mercedes for over 10 years, previous models no problem, this is the most recent c class and I confirm that they now have no switch.

as you going in summer when days are long, the likelihood of you having to use lights at night is low, so just don't bother with LHD shenanigans.

Thanks for this, yes I saw this in my manual but could not identify the little lever. HOWEVER, I have gone back today and removed one light unit again and took it apart & finally FOUND IT...!!!
It looks nothing like the picture but I now know how to do it.
