997 Turbo S Cab - is this a good deal?
Discussion
Hi All,
I am looking at buying a 2010 997 Turbo S Cab in Black. It has all the toys, is in perfect condition, 1 owner full warranty and has done 16K miles. Price is £90Kish.
Since there are so few of these around I have very little to compare it to - the dealer who is selling it, I like very much and am inclined to trust, seems to think it is reasonable money, it is just that with the new ones coming out in a few months and it having done 16K miles (which I think is quite a lot) I am having some nervousness on what to expect on the depreciation front.....
any thoughts?

Is it from an Official Porsche Centre? If I was buying a Turbo 'S', I would prefer to buy from an OPC, unless there was a worthwhile saving and other benefits elsewhere.
I wouldn't lose sleep over depreciation. Firstly, these are epic, with supercar performance, so if you want it and can justify it, then go for it. The 991 Turbos, especially the 'S' will be big money and fairly rare for a while. I think the 997 Turbo 'S' models will acquire a fairly keen following, so I would expect values to slide by a palatable 12-15% pa.

I bought one of the last off the line Turbo S Cab's in Feb (built Dec'12 62 model) with 25 miles on clock and got it for £107k at a OPC...so reasonable discount due to pre registered as show car but never taken on road and then due to new Turbo's coming online later in year.
So hope that helps...
Adding: very pleased with the car, now done 4ks in it and looking to get on track later in year. Porsche East London have looked after me so well since in terms of treatment that i feel i clearly made the right choice coming out of my R8 into Porsche as Audi never gave a to$$ about me as a customer. Having the cab in this weather was good timing

16k miles a lot? Seriously?
On a 3yr old car???
It just mean the thing has been driven, eventual issues and niggles sorted, properly run in.
As long as the car is in good condition and under warranty I see no problem whatsoever in a 16k miles 3yr old car. It's a Porsche, it's meant and made to be driven, not looked at only..

You could search the Porsche website, that'll give you an idea of how many are in the network, and typical pricing (bear in mind most will be negotiable). Then call the local ones to see what they can source for you.
Some of the cheaper ones, outside of the network, may have a reason - non-UK origin, paintwork, re-possession, etc, so important to check. Personally, I don't think 'S' prices will plummet, it's still a lot of car for the money with all the options, and probably the most desirable model short of the new 991 Turbo.

Is it the Guildford car, looks lovely.
I think they have had in stock for a while? The nearest cars looking on AT are:

You would like to think you could procure the Guildford car for £85 - 88k ? But I guess it depends how much they are prepared to move, especially given the 2 years warranty on the car + dealer back up, plus there are presently so few on the market. Can you bid them and then walk away if they say no, they might come back in time if it doesn't sell.
As the 991 turbo launch date approaches I guess more will come onto the market and prices drop slightly, all depends what spec you want and how soon
I also doubt the S prices will drop sharply in short - medium term, they will maybe do £1k / month over next 2-3 years?
Must you have an S, cos the RSJ cab looks mighty fine and relative value (no affiliation):

I think the S is worth it ..... from memory was around £18k premium for the S when new vs around £10k premium now used, so good value.
I guess the moot is if a punter perceives value in this £10k extra spend, if you obsess about intercoolers, turbos, and PCCB's make you feel dizzy then I guess is worth it

Assuming the right boxes are ticked, there are no mechanical differences between a 997 Turbo and an S, it is just an ECU Remap and a carbon filter box.I guess the moot is if a punter perceives value in this £10k extra spend, if you obsess about intercoolers, turbos, and PCCB's make you feel dizzy then I guess is worth it
