Headlight refitting issue

My 2003 Boxster 2.7 came with updated headlights. I recently removed them both and I'm have problems refitting them securely.

I am familiar with the locking bar system from other Porsches I have owned, but I cannot get the locking bar to click into place. It just seems to get to the backwards facing horizontal position then keeps turning.

At a recent OPC service they noticed this and said on the report that they were "non original" parts. I guess that's true as they are upgraded lights.

Has anyone else found a solution for this issue?

Upgraded as in original amber lights to original clear lights ot upgraded as in aftermarket?

I don't know! They were fitted by the previous owner. How do I check? I guess that there is a part number someone that should begin 996.?

I have solved this problem. The Porsche tool for locking the headlights back in place had a hairline crack in it. This stopped the tool applying sufficient pressure to the locking bar. A 5mm socket fixed things in less than 10 seconds.

If anyone else has this issue, try using a 5mm socket instead of the Porsche tool.
