Hi,

I have just had a quote from Liverpool & Victoria, some £600 cheaper than my renewal notice from Churchill. They did not ask for a tracker, to be kept in a garage, or anything really… has anyone had any experience with Liverpool & Victoria is this as good as it seems?

Yes, my quote with L&V was £550 (nearly half price)less than Norwich Union who save miliion of £££s by off-shoring their call centres and pass none of it on to their customers.

I wrote a strongly worded letter to NU about this but never got a reply - even more reason to dump them.

I also didn't renew my motorbike insurance with them wehen that came up for renewal, again I got it for about 25% less elsewhere with a better policy.

It is known that L&V are actively targeting Porsche driving customers at the moment - hence cheapo premiums. Cover is SUPERB and some of us were lucky enough to get track day cover included as standard (some more recent attempts to get this have failed).

Generally they:
Cover the full value of your car, added extras, options etc so long as you can provide "evidence" i.e. receipts.
Don't care about mileage.
Don't care about driveway/garage.
Will let you modify to some extent without charging extra.
Will change reg nos, address etc without an admin charge,
Can speak to a native English speaker in the UK.

So far it's been the best insurance experience I've had to date.

Unfortunately, they don't know what a GT3 is. GT2 yes but not GT3. Shame.

I got a quote from them for our new Boxster, it was very competitive about the same as privilage and they didn't insist on a tracker.

Only reason I went with Privilege was that I had problems with buying from L&V over the net and at the time the offices were closed.

Just changed to them from R&SA and saved £150, as well as not needing to garage or have tracker anymore. Trackdays not covered though.

I'm also with L&V, big saving for me plus they don't care about a single speeding ban or points. Nice!

I need to renew my insurance mid Nov. I was going to give LV a call as I have heard good things. It will be interesting as I am with Privilege at the moment, so will see what the difference is.
Although Privilege were the best price/company at the time, I do seem to be paying a hell of alot. Also, I have just fitted Cup 2 17's and they have charged me an extra £45 for what was the remaining four weeks. Asking how much this would increase my policy for a year, she couldn't tell me. I didn't press the issue as I could see it going nowhere.
What I don't understand (correct me if I am wrong) most companies charge extra for non-standard parts, but point out that in the case of a claim only the original/standard parts would be fitted???????????
By the way, the car is a 944 s2. Will let you know the result in the near future.

I'm with L&V and found them very good. I also agree with you totally about off-shoring.

I now actively avoid any company that takes part in off-shoring. I notice this week that Royal Sun Alliance have just announced another few thousand jobs heading east

Yes I'm biased - I work for a large American IT company that is currently planning to offshore 1000's of IT positions

Been with LV for 2 years now & they are far & away the most competitive.
Proof of the pudding is in the claiming though.
I had to claim for a non fault accident (Transit van drove into me) & they sorted it all out very very quickly, absolutely no hassle.
They even got me a brand new M3 Cab to thrash round in for 3 weeks while my 996 was off the road.

I didnt know to try L&V when I was shopping around but I found Carole Nash to be pretty competitive. They run a policy (not sure if this is common) whereby you dont accrue any no claims, nor do you ever lose any should you claim etc...

Price seemed very competative to me too - under £400 fully comp on Carrera 3.2 (garaged, 5000 mile limit).

I was with Carole Nash - sub £300 fully comp. for a 20 year old 924 - I was very pleased with their service. Unfortunately my renewal premium this year is over £800 ! (no claims in the last year by the way). The reason is that they used to use Axa as the insurer which had a policy for "classic" cars. Unfortunately Axa have changed their definition of "classic" to being over 25 years old !
I'll see them again in five years.

I've been v.happy with prices for classic insurance from 'Grandstand 2000' (use Google as I'm at work without access to my files) but haven't had to claim though. Policy is with Sun (I think) and costs £220 (no extra for partner to be named either) with no conditions imposed (not even alarm etc let alone garage).
Guy.
Edit to say car is a 944S

I thought I would give L&V a try so gave them a call - I'm sure they are absolutely wonderful but they won't insure anyone under 30 in a 911. Bugger

Well, after receiving my insurance renewal notification from Privilege some £200 more than last year (why?) for the sum of £1,500!!! I got in touch with a number of companies. Quotes were from £1,300 to over £2000. Also most,in the small print no mods = no insurance.
So, I left the best till last...Liverpool Victoria.
I agree Alpina, they ask a frighteningly small amount of info. I actually found myself trying to make myself heard through the ladies goodbyes actually offering info 'but I've got non standard wheels...!!!' reply 'not interested' and 'I do have an immoboliser, you know!'
Anyway, the grand sum is £830.00
Working this out on my etch-a-sketch, that might be a little bit good?

So there is one good thing about having turned 30 last week then

My insurance (currently with Privilege) expires in mid November, by which time my 993 will have a supercharger... will definitely be giving LV a call on this one.

Do they have a problem with 14 day bans?? (got too enthusiastic in a Noble last year)

Funnily enough I've used Privilege for god knows how long (7 years?) - they must be changing their desired customer profile as they have shown no effort to keep me so far....
