Turbo S ?, or where could 75k be better spent.
Discussion
I am pencilling in a Turbo S (997) as my next (only car) daily.
Is there anywhere 75K could be better used?
I don't think I could live with a GT3, as my existing Turbo is about as hard riding as I would want to go. And I don't think I could live with Ferrari size or attention.
R8 V10.....maybe?
Unless I've got it wrong, the Porsche is the ultimate all rounder, rear seats (sort of
), reliable, reasonable running costs, not too shouty, crushing all weather performance, modest luggage space, VERY easy to live with as a daily.
Before anybody brings up PDK, I see it as a positive, and I'm not too worried about PCCBs as it will never see a track.
Opinions?

Can you really get a turbo s for 75k?
Well, surprisingly, yes. And we're talking OPC here, fully warranted.
Not sure about the colour, and Turbo2 wheels are awful (IMO) but,

Really like this one,

I suppose the choices are enormous. But, if you are looking for a practical 2+2 'supercar', that can be used everyday, whatever the weather, then a Turbo 'S' must rank pretty high.
Good friend of mine has had one for a few years and loves it. He tried a 991'S', and a 997.2 GT3, but says that once you get addicted to Turbo performance, everything else feels pedestrian.

Not sure I agree the Turbo is 2+2. I can't imagine any reasonably sized adult being agreeable to spending any time in one of the back seats. I can barely stand to be in the back seats of my 03 Turbo for the time it takes to clean the rear windows.Good friend of mine has had one for a few years and loves it. But the Turbo is a heck of a GT and one that can be used everyday, begs to be used every day, thrives on being used every day.
I also had a 997 Turbo S for nearly 3 years, following 3 years with a GT3, and a succession of 911s (10) prior to that (kept the best ones).
For many years I was actually a bit 'anti' the Turbo models, regarding them as not real 911s. But, I would rate the Turbo S very highly. Not as tactile as the GT3 at first acquaintance, but much more usable, and the extensive standard specification options really do improve the driving and ownership experience.
Although everyone talks about the phenomenal performance, and it is remarkable, I rarely found the need to drive at warp speed, never used the launch control, but found it very rapid and very engaging on A, B and M roads. It does feel special, but also practical, I did use the rear seats regularly, lots of long trips, and 25 mpg average.
I'd definitely recommend it, but IMO you also need an early 911 in the garage to complement it. The DNA between the two is still evident, but you'd have the best of both worlds - the 'old school' charm of man and machine, and an epic GT.

For me GTR was an amazing car for me. Fits your criteria with room, performance etc.
I had mine for 2.5 years and loved it!! Sold it for 997.2 Turbo but not the S model and only kept that for 3months. Of the two, I definitely recommend the GTR.... Now onto R8 v10.. Great car but only if you don't need the space because storage & boot is very compromised compared to 997 and definitely GTR.

I've been lucky enough to have two Turbo S. A cab first and then a coupe and they are simply amazing in terms of their performance but I found them a bit over the top in the end. Great if you are into neck snapping acceleration and spectacular levels of grip and go but not so great if you like a good noise or wringing the performance out of a car with revs. I now have a 991S with PSE and its so much more fun IMHO . Sure, it's not as quick but its just more engaging in my view. If you haven't had a turbo S then it's probably an itch you need to scratch but don't discount a 991 for the money. They are way better cars than the 997 in so many ways.
I've been looking closely at 991s, but an S PDK would appear to come in more expensive than a Turbo S.
GT-Rs from what I've read from road tests seem to ride very harshly and are also hugely noisy, I don't particularly like the look of them and they *seem* huge. I fully accept they are a monster performance bargain, but I suspect not for me. Possibly I should get a test drive and see for myself.
Also isn't the service schedule 6 months/6,000 miles? I'm not sure I could live with that.
If I put the project on the back burner for a few months, would 991s depreciate more as they become more commonplace, or would a Turbo S as the 991 Turbo comes on line?
I accept 991 moves the whole game on from 997, maybe it would be the better buy......but that Turbo S itch might just come back.

A client of mine has the following in his collection at the moment:
- 997.2 Turbo S
- new Cayenne Turbo S
- DB9 Volante
- Gallardo LP560
- Aventador
He uses the 911 every day and says its the one car he'd keep, absolutely loves it and as much as I love manuals I have to admit I love the PDK in it.
Pretty sure I'd lose my license though if it were my daily driver

The reason I've had 911s for so many years (29) is that nothing else has had that special blend of unique design, supercar performance, vw golf durability, excellent practicality (2+2), fabulous steering and handling, safe rewarding ownership experience, and a reliable re-sale market. But, best of all, is the everyday usability (even, just, from the GT3s).
Which model you choose is personal, but I can vouch for the 997 Turbo S, it really does feel immensely capable - beyond most people's needs. The 991 is an impressive development, but IMO less 911esque than all before, largely due to clever but slightly more synthetic engineering - I'd cite PDCC, electric steering and the sports exhaust as examples. Interestingly, I thought the 991 C4S was notably better than the 991 or 991S. But, if it was my choice at that budget it would be one of the flagship 997 models - .2 GT3 or Turbo s.

Many turbo owners feel the same bar 6t who would also feel the same if they hadn't of modified or spent more than 20k;)I have just purchased a 4GTS and already in a week I have had more fun than in 3 years with various turbos.
Jag F type would seem to tick the boxes? your budget will just about get you into a v8 supercharged model, which I'd expect to be similarly paced to a turbo s, and a similar compromise of gt/sports car - from what I've heard about both cars I'd expect it to sound much better too. If you're looking at R8s I guess the rear seats aren't too big a deal?
