111 point check - works needed

evening chaps, my 05 996t is in for it's final warranty extention with reading OPC and a mini service.

good news - PCM2 playing up and under warranty
bad news - they are putting in a new PCM2

couple of bits need doing for the new warranty, main one being the main bolts and heat shields by the turbo are corroded and eed doing sooner rather than later.

question 1 is - does the work have to be done by OPC or can I pop it down to Ray at Northways and get it done for about half the price (OPC quoting £895 + vat). I have amonth or so of warranty so there isn't a mad panic.

question 2 is - can they stipulate that this is done before extending the warranty (getting done anyway, but think they might be finding work to do for teh sake of it; who'd have thunk it!)

I might be being a bit daft here, but how come the work is not to be done under warranty?

It's already warranted right?

Nuts and bolts....corroded.....nothing like making them so they dont corrode eh Porsche?!!! As stated, i would head to a decent Indy. As you are in Berks take a trip to RSJ in Slough.

cheers guys, already use Northway for my rocketship mileage cayenne and will eventually pass the mantle to them on the 996T too.

only sticking with OPC for now as still under the extended warranty and can squeeze another year out of that. As it's my first venture into turbo territory I figure the cost of the warranty will see me through for another year and hopefully pay for itself.

got myself a new pcm2 out of it this time

will speak to OPC in morning to see if they'll price match Northway's estimate or if not; do they have to do it at all.

nobody said it would be cheap; but it is fun!

now looking at late 80's for a different take on the experience; need to do some man maths!

They can stipulate and non warranty work can now be done by Ray if all parts are Porsche.
