The 30k 996 GT3
Discussion
All this talk of GT3's going crazy needs to be tempered with some realistic analysis.
It would seem that they can be bought for 30k or less.

Anybody know anything about it?

According to Jackal's list on the yellow GT3 thread there was indeed 1 x ocean blue and 6 x iris blue. Can't make my mind up from the photos which it might be?
It's definitely not iris. I know iris very well.
Could be midnight though? Oh hang on, there are no midnight ones!
Ocean it is then. And it's unique.

If anyone wants a closer inspection it's literally 5 mins up the road from me.
Crap advert though!
Clarky, if you happen to be passing an have 5mins spare I'd appreciate an opinion on it (UK car/under bonnet sticker/condition of brakes/tyres/paint) ?Crap advert though!
It's a long way North even from me. Advert is very poor. If its a straight car and was advertised properly by one of the well known's down South it would be long since sold.
I had an Iris Blue that I rejected as the dealer failed to disclose that it had been in a major bump at Goodwood. This was a shame as it was a lovely car and well repaired by OPC Swindon. However history is history and paying full whack for it c£60k in 2003 would have meant that I would take the hit come resale time. So back it went. They sold it to another dealer and I doubt the history was declared ?
I then found a non C16 Mk1 in Lapis and bought that. It went on to be owned by another PH follower. Happy endings all around.
However my ageing memory seems to think that a serving RAF Officer owned the only Ocean Blue Mk1 up in Anglessey in 2004 or so and totalled it around that time. Perhaps see if Gary Bullen or any of the fellows involved with Titanic around that time can remember.

Often discussed on here but number of owners i think is totally irrelevant. What would you rather have a clean maintained car with 8 owners or one that had been abused and not maintaoned with 3 owners? No brainer
This is a completely logical perspective. (and thus has no place on the PH Porsche forum whatsoever)
How's the new toy ?

Hi Slippy yup its fantastic just gotta get it out and drive it more this weekend. Had a mooch around it last nite in the garage. Loving the bits like the thinness of the roof and the other light panels on the car. They really went for the weight saving on these cars didnt they. There is also a 'tinny' sound when you close the door highlighting the lack of inner door padding. The set up from jzm is nicely precise and condition great. Also reassuring that the previous owner really lavished on the car over the last year. My 997 gt3 was quite a bit more 'comfy' in some regards
