Door won't open!

I was unable to open my 996 C2 drivers door after work today, I unlocked with the fob and when I attempted to open the door, the window dropped like normal but the door would not open. Passenger door fine and able to open drivers door from inside no problem. I tried several times but no joy, never had this problem before, any ideas?

There is a link rod between the handle and door lock mechanism, and it is prone to failing. There was an article about it in 911&PW this month, which shows how to repair it.

It's an excellent article. I had thought of having a look at the link in my door and perhaps greasing it to help reduce corrosion.

The article was not very clear on the door airbag routine. Can these just be unplugged if the ignition is off with key removed?

Disonnect the battery, and leave it disconnected, while you have the airbag unplugged. I don't think you have to remove it to get at the lock mechanism though.
