997 gt3 short shift fitted to my 996 ttt

Just picked up my 996 turbo after having a 997 gt3 short shift fitted at 9e,
Well what can I say unbelievable I've had my car 7 years and now it feels brand new if anyone out there has a 996tt without one and are into driving then you must get one I would put it in front of a remap in terms of upgrades for your car it's so precise now it just make the car feel faster,the guys at 9e are superb no one knows more about 996tt than they do IMO thanks guys. Ps don't know why there's an angry face on my post?

Is it the 997 GT3 shifter or the 997 SHort shifter ??

I've got some aftermarket short shift on mine and its pants, I've been considering the 997 short shift but most people seem to be fitting the 997.2 GT3 shifter.

Mine has the 997 short shift fitted by OPC, feels good.

My 996T has a short shift kit on it, not exactly sure which one. Negative is when I first start her up getting reverse can be a bit of a pain and when I first got it I found third took a bit of getting used to, but it is much better than the standard box

The short shifter is called a 997SSK what ever that means

I also had the gearbox oil changed and diff oils changed but even cold it's still really good and reverse is perfect

Steve that's the 997 Short Shift Kit, it's about 25-30% shorter throw than standard. The GT3 Shifter isn't quite as short, it's only about 15% shorter.

How are you finding it, does it feel notchy at all and does it need much effort to slot into gear ?

No effort at all goes straight in maybe the gearbox oil change helped, still getting used to it as I've had the standard shifter for 7 years now,going for a big drive on Sunday over the South Downs with a friend who also has a 996tt with a short shifter so should really get some use out of it.

SSK = Short Shift Kit. Fitted one to mine last year, love it, has transformed the car. A highly recommended mod and easy to fit oneself.

Each to their own - but I hated the one Porsche SS on my 997, particularly the baulkiness when cold. Didn't feel fluid or mecahnically sympathetic IMO.

I have the OPC 997 Short Shift Kit fitted to my 996 Turbo. Absolutely brilliant. I was advised to fit the more expensive OPC part rather than a pattern part off eBay by my local indy. The OPC kit is really good. Can't comment on any other - but I did read a thread somewhere from someone who fitted a pattern part off eBay and lost all his gear change. Left stranded and had to be lifted onto a trailer to have the problem sorted - fitting an OPC 997 SSK. So it supports the fact that a cheap job that has to be re-done works out very expensive in total.
