Good afternoon everyone...
Currently driving 996 4S. But looking to move backwards to a 993 Turbo.
Grateful for any views, advise or general knowledge of the subject...with apologies to the authors of the threads that already exist.
PS. Anybody know anything about Polar Silver car Reg No. P281 PLO ?

First of all I would say you are looking forwards..not backwards....I would check out first the cost of change as it may surprise you ....don't know much about the car you are looking at but broadly speaking a 993 turbo will look incredibly expensive to a 996 4s owner.A good 993 turbo a lot of cash now imo.P.s I have had both.Currently driving 996 4S. I was disappointed with my 996 c4s especially as it was so highly rated in the press at its launch(when I bought it)..993 turbo different level build and quality wise but also not a really great drive imo..depending on whether you are super keen to go old school or not my choice would be a 996tt...a league above the 996 4s and 993 turbo from a driving point of view imo..993 turbo will probably be a better investment still though in the long runGiven that you have had both... what's your view of the cost of car to experience equation?

No probs..seriously hard to find a good 993 of any description without paying a lot from a basic c2's to turbo s's though,lot of searching to do.I think that's confirmation of the answer I expected to hear.

If you like the turbo power delivery and wants a bit of character and possibly challenge then have a look at the 996GT2 down at 911 Virgin - its a great example and v good value
They are not to everyone's taste, but if you like the turbo engine rather then its well worth a look. I strongly prefer the GT3 type of power delivery, but that's just me

i went the other way, had a 993 C4S followed by a 993 Turbo both very good cars, very solid and stable on the road but lacked something when on the move. The performance increase in the Turbo over the C4S on the 993 was significant behind the wheel.
I then made the move to a 996 gt2, nothing more to say other than I'm very happy with the decision to buy it, bloody awesome car.

993 Turbo is AWESOME. I'm 10 years in and love it more every day. Forget about mileage. My car was very heavy on maintenance at 36K miles, then again at about 56K miles but now is better than it's ever been.
Budget £5K for some superb suspension and you will be as happy as a pig in s
t. Look at it another way, £500 a year on upgrades paid upfront over the next 10 years. My car has been utterly reliable and an absolute hoot to drive (currently tuned to about 500bhp, hence issues previously).
I've had an F430 2 months.... sold it today.
