Placed an order for a Cayenne at the beginning June and advised the build slot was for Sept. I left a £3k deposit and was advised he would require the balance of the deposit within 10 days.
This was paid and then advised at the end of June that the build was locked (which seemed very early to me) and the deposit is no longer refundable. I was reading through the T&C's yesterday and it states you pay £3k preliminary deposit and the balance of the deposit known as the secondary deposit must be paid when you receive in writing the confirmed build date. I haven't been given a build date but just told a September build.
The T&C's state that until you receive your build in writing your preliminary deposit is refundable so have I paid my secondary deposit too early and the dealer is having one over on me? and if I were to cancel as I haven't received my build date in writing could I cancel and get my cash back.

My experience is once they have a build date for the car you are informed of it and they then ask you to specify the car as you wish it to be built. At this point you hand over your ‘secondary’ deposit and the build and spec’ are locked in.
If you haven’t spec’d the car, then they can still sell on the build slot or move another customer up the order and so I would be asking for my money back – if that is what you intend to do.
