997 turbo cd changer

Hi all. I've just bought a 2007 turbo and it does not have a cd changer. If I bought one on eBay is it just a question of plugging in a cable? Would the system recognise it?

I think you need to buy the cable, fit it all up and then you need to get a dealer to code it. It won't work without coding.

997 turbo comes with a CD autochanger preparation as standard. The CD autochanger preparation includes optical waveguide connection point at the front panel in the luggage compartment and power supply line in the luggage compartment at the left (for RHD vehicles)behind the luggage compartment pan trim panel.

The appropriate optical waveguide must also be ordered for the "CDC-4 CD autochanger"
The optical waveguide depends on:
Vehicle type – left-hand drive (LHD) or right-hand drive (RHD)
Equipment variant (nav/sound system/phone etc)

Parts required (except waveguide)

997.645.140.02 x1→ CD autochanger
997.645.235.00 x1→ CD autochanger holder, rear (RHD)
997.645.234.00 1) x1→ CD autochanger holder, front (RHD)
997.551.103.00 1) x1→ CD autochanger trim panel, (RHD)
N 014 128 13 x6→ Countersunk screw, M5 x 8 

You'll have to give an OPC your VIN to determine the MOST waveguide specifically and budget around £800 iirc
