Get my GT3 back tomorrow

As it's been at JZM for the last 6 weeks or so. Had the coolant pipe welding job done, all new hoses, new Manthey full exhaust and updated engine mounts. Along with rear brakes.
Looking forward to a good blast back home tomorrow morning
I bet ! Looking forward to a good blast back home tomorrow morning

How come you've had a new exhaust ?
I don't think the GT3 is outrageously expensive to maintain, most performance cars need to be maintained properly if driven hard. Compared to a lot of other manufacturers tracking a GT3 is relatively inexpensive. I would not swap the bills from running a Ferrari or Lamborghini for example, even M BMW costs are not too dissimilar.
Dont buy one. Absolute money pit.
I've spent over £18,000 on mine AND that's only for fuel over the last 70K miles
Watch out for depreciation - my mate told me that Mk1's dont have any gizmo's and nobody wants them.
There are known problems with the engine with mean you have to change the oil AND filter EVERY year - and dont start me off about the air filter
And then there's the issue that track geo wears the tread off the side of the tyres and they cost £100s to replace.
Would you believe it - I even had to refurbish the suspension at 60K as the dampers were all damp on the outside and the springs stopped springing.
The worst thing in the Mk1 is the sat-nav. The screen is tiny and I get cold and lost every time I press the "auto" button

How dare you, that's simply not true, there's nothing wrong with the sat-nav in the Mk1, in fact it's so damn good, they even went as far as incorporating a feature that cools the car's interior when you hit that "auto" button. Though I have to admit I haven't sussed out how the car senses the windspeed outside of the car (I can't find any kind of ananometer) yet that small display does indeed indicate the differing wind speeds. I guess when you've got a car hand built by the Motorsport department, you can expect trick stuff like the above to be incorporated. Sad those days have gone and the really useful stuff has been replaced by cup holders and electronic boot releases . . . .
GT3 in "costs money to run" shocker.

I think our friend gets the message now, bless him. Those Spyders haven't half held their money well tho haven't they? Cheap to run also. Quicker than a GT3 also, on the right road, with the right driver, with the right conditions, with the right ambient temp and humidity, with the right alighnment of the stars, with the GT3 needing 10k to be spent on it after the drive anyway. Spiders are lightweight also I hear with the right seats/wheels and no options, you don't need air con or radio in a cabrio road car either, and they increase the value and desirability of a Spider, prob by about 20%. Make it 30%.
I'll shutup and go sit in my heavy comfort seats in my GT3-lard-spec radio/nav/air con slow worth nothing car, which needs 10k spending on it, and no one wants to buy, ever.
Love you really mate.

pssst, you guys.....this is what you want!!!!
lightweight bonnet, headlights and bumper options. i couldnt ever get used to the lack of turn in and feel with wheels so i just drive directly on the rotors now. the lower CoG and weight savings make the car so much faster and compliant. turn in is so much crisper and you remove the nagging concern that 0.5psi change will make you faster. its always switched on and optimal.
theres no interior as it was getting between me and the driving experience on so many levels plus the headlining was just weight that was way too high. ive even cut a reverse mohawk haircut so that ive lowered the CoG on my head.
same goes for the seats, i couldnt find anything that didnt feel like being in a hot tub and prevent me operating continually at my optimum driving level so i just pulled them out and sit right on the floor. its almost perfect, though i might cut a hole in the floor pan and drop my butt right through so i can literally feel the road. i suspect theres CoG benefits to be had from doing that too. i read once that if you can get your butt below the centre line of the axles it can give you a really bad scrub anus though, does anyone know for sure if this is the case?
