Fuel flap on 993 problem - advice needed

Got a problem with the fuel flap on my 993 - After filling up today I shut the flap gently as normal but for some reason it didn't close flush with the wing and sunk further down a bit. Now I can't get it open at all and the release pull inside the car seems to be disconnected as there's no resistance when pulled. Has anyone else had this problem and how did you fix it? I think the mechanism is the same as on the 964 and 3.2 Carrera. Thanks
