First Porsche, feeling good!

Hi all.
Well I've been a long term BMW owner (M3 CS and 2x V8 M3's) but now I have defected to Porsche and I'm very happy so far.
I've just bought the Boxster Spyder below and although I haven't had a chance for a proper thrash yet I'm just blown away by the whole package. The car feels so special, exactly what I was looking for in a weekend car.
The Spyder comes in at nearly 400kg's less than the M3 and boy can you feel that weight saving.
I'm sure I'll be on here asking many questions in the future so as a complete Porsche newbie please bear with me!!

Nice new toy - I just bought my Spyder about a month ago - and yes the lightweight really is noticeable...surprisingly so. Good luck and enjoy ownership ...any questions just ask. There is a 200+ page thread just on the Spyder over on PCGB and I think just about every topic has been discussed!

Thanks, I'll register for PCGB and check out the thread.Spyder specific info seems fairly minimal on the internet.

What do you mean, you're not going to track it...?
Part of the reason of buying it is to track it! I've got a half days instruction at the Porsche Centre Silverstone to book up where they can show me the limits of the car. Probably way beyond my driving ability.What do you mean, you're not going to track it...?

I'm taking out a 981 Boxster S. They haven't got a Spyder and as it's my first mid engined car I thought I'd opt for what I'd (hopefully) learn the most from. I was very tempted to say GT3!!What are you driving at the PEC? Have they still got a Spyder there?

Congratulations on the Spyder, fantastic toy, you will love it. I had the exactly the same Silverstone dilemma, keen to learn but couldn't resist the GT3 after they told me I can choose the GT3 and take my Spyder on the track for a but of tuition too... get to learn and try the GT car :-D might be an option for you to consider, sure they would let you re-book.Yeah, I might well change to a GT3!
When I booked they said the price bring a guest to do the same course was £550.00. That's pretty good value IMO for a half day one on one instruction using someone else's car.
Had the car out yesterday and roof up/down a few times. It's pretty quick and easy once you get the hang of it. Any tips for roof care/shampoo/sealant?
I must admit I've never had such an obvious car (M3's blend into the sea of 3 series BMW's) and it takes a bit of getting used to. Mrs Big E keeps pointing out that I get a lot of men looking at me when I drive by, maybe a Boxster thing

The car was serviced a year ago so won't be due a service for some time/miles. I was thinking about getting an oil change annually (so now) just to keep things fresh, what do you guys think? Is there anything else worth getting done/checked while it's at the garage?
Would you use an OPC for a non scheduled oil change just so it gets into the cars history or a good indy?
I have Paragon Porsche and Precision Porsche fairly close to work, any thoughts on either? I have used Precision Porsche for bodywork/paint on my BMW's before and their work has been excellent.
