Carrera 3.0 Charging Light

I have a 1977 Carrera 3.0 which has developed a fault. The charging light stays on full blast. Prior to this the light would have a dull glow at low revs with the headlights on, disappearing when revs rose. Battery seems OK. I drove the car 3 to 4 miles after the light came on. I left the car for 2 weeks and went back to it and it started, but red light still glows full on.

Any guidance would be appreciated.

Have you checked the Alternator is working properly?

I agree, check the alternator. May be a poor earth also so check the engine and all earth straps.

Mine did this when the alternator went kaput. To start with it would only glow at low revs or standstill and go off once you got going.

Cost me about £380 fitted.
