Advice - 996 C4 tip will not idle

Hi all,

Just after a bit of advice if possible. My wife's C4 tip has developed a problem:

It drives absolutely fine - but when coming to a standstill (at traffic lights for example) the engine dies. It appears it simply will not idle at enough RPM to keep the engine going. If I coast and VERY slowly come to a standstill, it just about ticks over at 400 rpm and struggles to stay alive.

As I say, it drives fine when on the move.

Any advice or suggestions much appreciated.

I assume gearbox works normally? Have you tried if dies also when in neutral? Rev sensor comes also to my mind but I am no expert (just did my part to get discussion going )

Yes gearbox works as normal. When in N idle still struggles the same.

I would plug-in a OBD reader and check whether it shows same revs as the rev counter. Something is preventing it from giving more gas to compensate.

google tells that this could be a faulty mass air flow sensor and dirty throttle body.
