Temp indicator failure on Cayman

Morning all,

Bit of an issue with the Cayman, seeing if anyone has had a similar experience?

So the temp indicator failure warning light comes on the dash, with the temp gauge showing zero and a red light flashing on right side of the temp gauge. Rang the OPC, they suggested Porsche Assistance, due to the warning on the dash. Instead of spending hours waiting for the RAC, I got the car got picked up on low loader off to the OPC yesterday morning. They can't see it until later today..

I did notice that the coolant levels were below the min, however would have thought that I would of got a "low coolant" warning. Therefore suspect that because there is some sort indicator failure, this warning was not possible.

Bit of a pain, but at least I got a rental in the meantime. Anyone had a similar problem?

My CS had this, i fixed it myself on the drive, 18 quid for the temp sensor and its behind the seats, so you need to access it from within the car.

I hot swapped mine (not technically correct) so i lost a little coolant, but i topped it back up and its been fine for the 18 months since i changed the part.

Now yours is at OPC it will cost more than the 18 quid i paid but at least you will know it was done correctly. Its actually a VW/AUDI part and is fully stamped as such

Got my car back from the OPC, took them 1 week to replace the temp gauge. Am I being unfair, but that seems to be a long time to wait for something very minor!!

Porsche assistance put me into temporary car via Enterprise, a Volvo XC70, not exactly compact! I paid their damage waiver on a daily basis, as their excess was higher than my current insurance. Ended up forking out £100 in charges, I should pursue Porsche for that..

I have this same problem how do I get to the sender behind seats . Would it be safe to drive to a garage that I use it's 6 miles away cheers
