Hi gents I'm looking to get a reliable source for 996 TT

Went on wisebuyers (which was always good for my RR's) but its showing retails 15k for a 2000MY with 72k...now i know this isn't true.

I've been looking at a metallic viola model (just want something a bit different)with full extended carbon back grey leather done 72k with FPSH.

what's it worth £17.5-18.5k?

Thanks in advance.

Unless the values have dropped like a stone while I wasn't looking, I'd say you're about £5k too low if it's got a good history and is decent condition. 72k miles is high-ish, but it's not that high.

He has it on his four court currently for £19,925

there's a lot of turbo's for sale now for under £22k

is there any major issues/differences between the early 2000 models and later 2003-04 ?

Anything below 20k i would tread with caution.
I've owned 2 996 Turbo's and you can swallow 10k quite easily in one.
Get a reputable PPI done first.

Rads/Conds
Heat shields on exhaust and turbo's
Brakes discs & clutch
Coffin arms & suspension in general.

These cars have 420 and 450 bhp (x50 model)so effectively they are in super car performance league and as such could cost super car performance prices.

Nothing major. You won't get a glove compartment, and I think the early cars don't have cup holders. You won't get PCM (although my 2002 car doesn't have that anyway). But there is nothing significant.

Buy on condition/history, not age.
They are all relatively old cars now anyway.

thanks for the feedback.

Is there anything visually with regards to the rads etc that i should look out for? I do recall there quite open to stone chips which cause damage.

The rads are more likely to suffer from rot / rust. You can't even see the two side ones with the bumper on - ideally, the history file would show when they were last replaced.

You can check the general condition see if they have been cleaned out which is normally a good sign, they get bunged up with leaves and debris and rot basically. Turn the heater on full and check underneath on the tray for visible residue of coolant and have a good feel around, you can normally smell the ant-freeze too if there is a leak, the coolant should be pink.
Regarding the Condensers just turn the AC on and see if its coming down in temp. If not its short of gas or you have a leak.

Sure I'm thinking the amount of paper work vs the service history will determine a good one?

Check the service stamps correspond with the invoices. A fully stamped up book should always be backed up with papers albeit this is not always the case unfortunately.

This always annoyed me as the last car I had was all stamped up to date but I couldn't get much of the paper work for data protection reason form the dealer, was very annoying.

I wouldn't take the chance again and would only look for a car that had the invoices in with the service wallet.

To be honest mate there are a lot of 996 turbo's around so take your time, buy with your head not your heart.

what's your take on the current 996 turbo prices do we think they'll still go down or (me being one of them) I'm speculating they may even increase as the years go on?

I think they have more or less bottomed out now.
Values are purely determined via supply and demand.
The problem is Porsche are now a mass producer (had too to survive) and the 6T was a mass produced variant.
They also don't rust like the earlier stuff thus there will be no doubt a few still around in years to come.
I think if you buy a nice one at 20k plus it will be a safe place for your hard earned.

Agreed, you may say i'm biased as I now own one but in the year since purchase I have seen little to no drop at all.

I would actually say the ones on the market now are a little but more expensive that when I initially searched beginning of the year...

as i tend to remember the BAD cars...i couldn't believe that the car below was being advertised at 8K more than it sold on ebay for about 6 months ago....

ok it has some modded bits on it now but come on....

Standard cars with standard wheels will always command a premium.
Manual boxes are normally more sought after too

I don't think that's correct. I think the turbo is the first of the facelift variants. Mine was registered in December 2001 and it has pcm and a cupholder. Pcm is an extra which if why yours doesn't have it i would of thought.
