Why am I considering a Nissan over my 993 C4S?

Keep finding myself on the classifieds looking at 2013 Nissan GTRs, but love my Porsche, what is so fascinating about 500+BHP and modern tech, do not think I could sell mine for one but find them alluring despite being claeed soul less....dangerous itch?

Talk about chalk and cheese! One that is an absolute delight to drive at any speed and provides feedback by the bucket full, and the other which doesn't even start to become enjoyable until you are well into three figues and relies on inert technology to achieve this.

Apologies to any GTR owners on here, but these observations are all imo of course.

But have you driven one Trev? (I haven't as it happens, but interested to know if this is from personal experience... GuyR gave some interesting GTR vs Porsche reports when he first got his).

Yes it comes from personal experience of driving one on both the road and track. Superbly capable piece of kit, but as I said previously, you need to be driving it at insane speeds before it becomes enjoyable.

^ I wouldn't say they're only enjoyable at insane speeds, just that you get there so quickly and easily so there's less time to pootle about or wring their necks in the gears to extract the power/speed.
That said 4wd pork is probably less "enjoyable" than rear drive too, certainly having driven a TurboS around a track, that too is real easy to drive mentally fast. Whereas a Cayman R is superb and more "fun" but nowhere near as fast. Depends on whether it's destroying all comers or just driving fun that you're interested in a the time I guess.

Having been a passenger in a GT-R round the ring , I can confirm that they are amazing cars, you could feel the power moving round the car finding the wheel that had the grip. We overtook EVERYTHING including an indignant 360 Fezza who didn't want to move over. He was left for dust once passed. An amazing experience, a very clever car. Depends upon what you want, they have plenty of room, a decent boot, all weather ability. I couldn't drive it as it was fitted out with hand controls ( the driver was a quadraplegic!!. Johnny, you are a talented man. He had owned a 911 immediately before the GT-R,and preferred the Nissan. We're all different, so depends upon what floats yer boat and what your needs are. I'd have one.

Absolutely awesome car is the GTR - as fast as anything, but not sure if driving experience will be as much 'fun' (whilst travelling so fast you'd go backwards through time)

Might have to be prepared for some depreciation? How do they hold value? Cannot say I've ever looked.....

GTR's hold their value well. Even original 2008/2009 models with 30,40k miles on them fetch well over £30,000. Pretty good IMO and better than a 997...

They are amazing cars. And the GTR scene is chocked full of genuinely decent people and a refreshing absence of clowns and status monkeys - just proper drivers and enthusiasts.

The addictive thing about the GTR is how easy they are to personalise. A sports exhaust here, a remap there, some new tires and wheels and before you know it you have 600bhp plus and your a Driving God.

I love 'em.

No comparison to a 993 however. That is an epic car, but all for completely different reasons. I would have to think long and hard before letting go of a nice 993.
