Considering a 987 Boxster, guidance needed.

Hi

So I'm considering buying a 987 Boxster (2.7). I have been doing a bit of research and I have been pleasantly surprised at the cost of insurance and tax. I don't know what they are like to run though. So I'm wondering if anyone can tell me what they are really like and how much I realistically need to budget for servicing and maintenance?

I am also wondering if there are any common issues.

A very sound choice, probably the best model to aim for IMO.

Great cars. I've had my 3.2 S 987 for 2 months now. Cost wise so far is a £300 OPC bill to change the oil / oil filter, plugs & drive belt (I supplied the oil though). This work was only done to maintain the OPC warranty as was due on time rather than mileage.

I don't drive mine particularly hard & it's averaging over 30mpg.

Do your homework with any prospective purchase & check the history. Stamps in the service book could mean that it's only had an annual check which doesn't even include an oil & filter change. Good to have receipts to back up any work. Service intervals on 987 are 20k / 2 years.

Things to look out for are accident damage, RMS oil leaks (although improved from 986 version), air con condensers leaking (check air con blows cold). Recent tyres / brakes an advantage as can be costly.

Most people prefer heated seats, although not all have them. Other nice options to look for are the upgraded sound pack or Bose (some people don't like Bose but I think it's good), extended leather, upgraded wheels, climate (all had air con but climate was an optional extra), sports seats, sports steering wheel etc
