babies in buckets....anyone?

Have you ever tried a baby seat (1yr+) in a bucket seat?
Apparently several models fit (maxicosi tobi, recaro young sport), though Porsche says 'no' in the handbook and the baby seat people (Recaro) say "yes, it fits but no, we do not guarantee it b/c Porsche do not allow the use of baby seats in buckets".
Any experiences with this, or strong views?
(Car in question is GT3 RS with buckets)

I travelled round Ibiza in 1972 aged 18 months in a purple plastic bucket half filled with water to keep me cool wedged between the two seats of my dads 206 Dino... have a pic somewhere

I use a maxi cosi (think it's RodiFix) with my 3 year old in my RS buckets with no problems or cencern. Need to fit an airbag off switch though!
Kit from the "normal" 997 fits (all bar the isofix bar of course). and doesn't cost much (believe it was 90 EUR). Easy enough install you can do it yourself. Saves you having to replace the dashboard if you bin it on track, too.
NB: If you want a quote from your OPC you'll need to point out that you DONT want the bar fitted and JUST the switch (fitting the bar that doesn't fit buckets is a major pain and takes hours). Otherwise they'll probably quote you zillions or will tell you that it can't be fitted.

You might want to check this is true about airbags. having read a response by Honest John in Telegraph recently that explained this I think we've all been given duff advice. i will explain: he basically said turning the airbag off was necessary in rear facing seats only, not front facing seats. Seat wise, I have the Guardian Kiddy Pro (w/isofix) seats for both kids, which fit perfectly into the carbon backed sports buckets in RS 7.2. Great thing about this seat is that it goes from 1yr to 12yrs, expanding and changing as required, and was a Which? Best Buy and Best Crash Protection at the time. No more expensive seats and isofix bases at every stage from Maxi-Cosi and the like that require a different isofix base with each seat...Grrrh.
