Owner of 944 Reg C540

Sold my 944 on here to someone in Wigan, Lancs i believe, was quite a few years ago now, but the registration transfer with the DVLA has never moved over.

I did contact a few people who i thought i sold it too but no luck, checked emails and all sorts.

I remember sending it off, so im not sure why it has not gone through, but did make the mistake of not making any copies.

So hoping the new owner see this, other wise i will have to report it stolen or something as its gone on for years now and i dont know my options. I doubt the DVLA will take me just ringing them and taking my word for it

If you sold it then reporting it stolen won't be an option.

Maybe try posing on the PCGB site (no charges to register there) or a 944 site?

No, but you can and should ring them to explain, and ask them what you need to do next, rather than dropping a line and hook in the ocean in the hope of catching the right fish!

What happened exactly?

a) You sold a car, sent the V5C off, but did not receive the confirmation of change in ownership from DVLA?

b) You sold a car with a private plate on it, expecting to keep the plate but the new owner keep it themselves.



If a) simply write to the DVLA stating you sold car reg no X on date Y to person Z but never received confirmation from them. They will confirm if records are updated, and update them if they are not.

If b) then the new owner has probably kept it, as when you sell a car any private plate technically goes with it. You should always remove it and put on retention before sale. Anyways if its been over a year then retention fees will have lapsed and it will prob be lost anyway.
