£35 k to spend - which Porsche Classic?
Discussion
Just went through this dilemma, with the same budget.
I was primarily thinking a 930 Turbo and looked at a few, but in the end you have to consider what kind of driving you want to do with the car.
For me, I realized that a light NA car was more appropriate as my daily driving is all A and B roads and I also wanted to use the car as an occasional track machine.
I could have gone 993C4S / C2S as I wanted an air cooled, but decided they were too civilized - so went vintage. This ended up dictating spending less, but getting what would fit my requirements. I also have access to multiple cars for fun and everyday usage, so ultimate flexibility wasn't a need. If this was to be my only car, I'd have probably gone for an good Gen2 997..
So my advice - given your limited criteria a 930 Turbo looks ideal - but consider how you are going to drive it, and what you need it to do.

Beautiful beautiful cars and lots of fun to drive but particular - make sure you drive one before you buy. They are very all or nothing - off boost not that quick, on-boost (ie over 3,000 rpm) they are. It's like night and day.
I absolutely love mine but it's very different to a na carrera - prettier and more aggressive and faster but you have to work harder.
Had mine in London on the street for 2 years with no ill effects (except someone stole my Porsche tyre valve caps, but that may have been on the grounds of taste!)

I quite like the 964. Currently have a 997.2 Turbo S. Im 31. No garage. Weekend driver. Don't do trackdays (currently)......
Jesus that's some daily driver! First thing to understand - and accept - is that in common with 99.99% of other cars on the road, whatever you get is going to be slow compared to the Turbo. But you knew that right, and this car is going to give you thrills unrelated to raw power.
I would get a drive / pax ride in a 3.2 Carrera, 964 and maybe even a pre-73 911 and see which floats your boat the most. If it was me, I would jump through the closing doors as the train leaves the station and bag myself a pre-73 T or E, although for a nice one you are probably talking only a T. Never mind. You can always upgrade it to S spec later.

No garage is going to be cruel on a classic. Your current drive and these air cooled are worlds apart so dont expect much. Driving them occasionally is the experience not every day.
£35k wont buy you a perfect and sorted 70s car. You'll get a very good 964 or 993 for that price with at least AC, PAS, ABS etc

Paul Stephens had plenty of classics, for that budget at the Castle on Sunday. Hopefully my GT3 will be going their way in return for something old soon. Just need it back to standard first.
