just a few 996 C4S questions...

just a bit of help if possible... (I have searched for most of my answers)
After a few years of saving up, I'm now in a serious position to be purchasing a C4S. I'm totally aware of the engine issues but for some reason I just seem to love the car!
I would really appreciate any help from the C4S clan...
I have quite a comprehensive list of checks that I'm going to do to each car but just need to confirm a few things:
The switchable exhaust with the button - was this only on the exhausts with the "figure of 8" design on the tail pipes?
The Litronics - these are the Xenon lights, was the option to have these or Halogen? There was no other type of Xenon lights offered?
Sat Nav & Phone Prep - do these always go together or could you get one without the other?
The Sat Nav - can you still get updates?
The tyres - is this the correct size? Front 225/40 & Rear 295/30 (I just can't seem to confirm it by searching).

No, it's on other tail pipe designs as well

I don't think there are any other types of light, I would get xenons if you can, I have just halogens and they're not great

There is a 2009 CD update for the 2.1 which is the last as far as I know.

Yes, these are the correct tyre sizes, both 18 inch rims

Great choice, I've had my 996 C4S X51 for over a year now and love it. Best car I've owned. No, it's on other tail pipe designs as well

You can get the PCM with nav and without the phone module (but the SIM slot is still there, just inactive)Good luck!
They are brilliant cars, I love mine. Running costs do take some consideration though as even though I did a lot of homework, it's still surprised me a little.
However, and most importantly they are lots of fun !.........and surprisingly practical. I have recently returned from a week in the Scottish highlands, with my wife, all our luggage and a 37kg Labrador. Didn't miss a beat and made me/ us smile a lot.
If you want one, get one mate, you won't regret it.

..Great cars, you will love it, under rated IMO.
Had mine 2 1/2 years now, get one that's had all the bits that break fixed if you can, and as far as running costs go mines cost me £2K a year for scheduled/unscheduled maintenance including tyres + fuel/ins/tax/mot's.
If you're lucky enough to find an X51 car even better, they do carry a £3 or £4K premium tho'.
The non X51 cars are not mega quick, but you won't be disappointed I assure you for a road car, and they sound like a sports car should unlike the boosted ones..!

Mine will just be a toy and I'm away with work for half the year.
I changed from a Z4 roadster to a 996 C4S coupe. Haven't missed the soft top tbh,thought I would,but have a sunroof so nearly as good.I love my 996,so much more that the Z4,massively more expensive to run,but well worth it.Good ones tend to sell quickly,so be ready to buy when you find one.Good luck with the search.
