Good Stuff!! based on that time the P1 should be 4-5 seconds faster given the lighter weight and aero! also looks like the 918 was on supersports..

Not so sure what Mclaren has kept under their sleeve but the last i heard was that they were over 7 minutes. Looks like the 918 has set a surprise!

It's pretty edge of grip, check out the steering angle Lieb has on the downhill right into Hatzenback, also the fast left half way up kesselchen needs some work at the wheel.... it's a mighty good time all said and done and really sets the bench mark for these new hypercars...

These times are largely irrelevant though, because no owner is ever going to drive like that around the ring. Or maybe crash trying!

Certainly possible - either dropping the rear wing or softening the dampers for DH are the only things that would make sense.

One point I would make though is : would McLaren have got there first if they had the services of Marc Lieb ?

I reckon the driver is a big factor on this - the car seems to be what I would expect of stock as it appears to have much the same factory standard understeer setup that 911s (including GT3s) come with and the tyres are squirming where something more akin to slicks would be expected to bite. It really does consequently seem to be on a knife edge all the way round. Note also that Porsche have really pulled out the stops to stamp some credibility on the time - full lap (not the slightly shorter industry pool lap or BTG), independent observer from SportAuto and timing from the people who do the car tracking for the VLN...

I think that McLaren might be back, but I don't expect any official attempt for the LaFerrari. Anyone coming along now won't be the first and failing to beat the time would just be a public failure of a more expensive product.
