996 GT3 - couple of details to check

Will be new to Porsche ownership and looking to start with a 996 GT3 in the near future....grateful for all the knowledge on here as I start to learn more about the cars!
Seen a couple of ads recently that prompted a couple of questions:
- 1 ad stated that all "3 radiators had been replaced", that surprised me, why would you need to replace all the radiators? Are they a potential weak point? haven't seen any references to them causing problems
- and do CS spec cars come with a fully plumbed in fire extinguisher as standard? if so, where is the bottle normally located?

Extinguisher not standard as far as I know, but forget about looking for one specifically with it - there are few enough CS's in existence, never mind actually available to buy (are there ANY at present?). The Comfort isn't substantially different, except for the flywheel, which isn't the dearest thing to change if it really matters to you.
Radiator problems are common to all water cooled Porsche sports cars - leaves & debris get in through the bumper openings, sit there and cause the rads to corrode - it's a routine job to sort out so easy to put a price on if you find a car that needs them doing.
Given these cars are 9-14 years old I can't stress enough how important it is to have any potential purchase checked out by a specialist that knows them well. Better to spend a few lots of £200-£300 on inspections than end up with a car needing £5k to get right that you didn't know about before deciding how much to pay.

Not particular about CS vs comfort but there's a CS currently in the classifieds, it's got an extinguisher in the footwell hence the question

Check check and check again. Make sure you buy from a reputable dealer. I have bought two cars from 911v a 996GT3 and a 996GT2. There car prep, customer care is excellent.
The most important thing is to get the car checked. A lot of GT cars have been abused, crashed etc... you need someone you trust to inspect the car and let you know its condition. It shoould be someone with specific knowledge on GT cars. They are high performance sport cars so need looking after. Speak to people phone up a few indy dealers and get a feel of how they make you feel and how comfortable you feel chatting to them.
The GT3 is an amazing car and you'll love it. The GT3 was my first porker too.

Hi if it's the red 996 club sport you seen in the classifieds section, I saw it last Sunday at the 911 Porsche world meet Reading way. The car looked like a cracking car, believe it was 14000miles all the history etc. I was slightly temped must admit to sell my 996gt3 mark1 for it but thought abit crazy but hey hoo. The guy said he also has a 997 RS and basically said was selling due to lack of use. It would be a nice car to own, once had an inspection for rev ranges etc...
As stated, all three front radiators are very open to damage and corrosion.
The CS versions had a big fire extinguisher supplied as standard and was normally fitted on the floor between the legs of the passenger in the foot well.
I have a 996 GT3 Comfort and also have the OE extinguisher, but I am reluctant to fit it due to the space it takes up for road passengers.
